Mitte the arrondissement that was once the centre of Berlin and which, during the years after
the fall of the Wall, was again vibrant with the feeling that it would yet regain that status. The documentary begins with observations of day-to-day events through which it becomes apparent that the middle-point that Mitte itself is has gone astray.
Where there is no centre, where balance has been lost, a chance for something new is often born. Here everything was really possible: some rode the new wave of capital, others lived almost without money and considered this part of Berlin their own centre, the centre of the world. It is these others that remain here, almost sentimentally, who the film is interested in.
The film is a sort of diary, written by those people who made that Mitte come alive.
